Packers Stories

Harold G, Soldiers Grove, WI

This story is about my oldest brother, Harold G. (age 63), who is in a nursing home in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin. My brother has always been an avid Packers fan, and at the beginning of the 2011-2012 Packers season, he decided he was not going to shave his beard or cut his hair unless the Packers lost a game. The nursing home staff all love teasing him on game day, saying he will soon lose his beard and long hair. Since the Packers haven't lost yet, he still has his beard and long hair, and plans to keep it until next season.

I live in North Pole, Alaska and I'm a die-hard Packers fan. My license plate reads GOPACK, I have a picture of the Green Bay gate at Lambeau field on my door at work. The picture is of me holding a Prince William Sound spot shrimp while proudly wearing my leather Green Bay Packer hat.

Cliff O, India

I grew up in Milwaukee and have been a long-time Packers fan. I recently took a 3-year assignment in India and watched the remainder of last season as well as the Super Bowl by waking up in the early hours. This photo was taken the morning before Super Bowl XLV. Packers-nation is definitely global!

Master Sergeant Jason G, Afghanistan

I am currently deployed to FOB Gardez in Afghanistan, and every Sunday night or Monday morning we, depending on what time the game is being aired on America Forces Network, make our way to one of the few TV’s here on the FOB located in the dining facility to watch the Pack. Go Pack GO.

My story is not bright and colorful, but I will share it. I am 73 years old and have been a Packers fan since I was 10. Never could afford nor get tickets to a game. I drove up to Green Bay to see the new field the summer it was completed. My birthday is on January 8th and for my birthday last year my son got tickets to the Packers vs. Bears game the day after New Years. He and I attended a tailgate party before the game and I cannot tell you how great the people were to us. I know that I will never be able to make it back to another game, but these memories will be locked in my mind for the rest of my life.

Jeffrey T, Bay Islands, Honduras

I live in The Bay Islands, a small set of islands off the North shore of Honduras in the Caribbean. Utila is the name of my small island, where there are 4 Packers fans. Our neighboring island of Roatan (23 miles away) has a number of good friends of mine who are Bear fans. We try to get together as much as we can for Pack/Bear games....Nothing like a big flat screen on the beach with the sun going down in the distance. Go Packers!

Marco V, San Marino

I think I'm the only fan in my country. I'm from the Republic of San Marino, the smallest and oldest republic in the world. 33,000 citizens and 1 PACKERS fan.

I was born in Poland and now live in the Chicago suburbs. When I was on my first date with my now fiancé, he asked me why am I a Packers fan. I began to tell him that my favorite colors are green and yellow, and he laughed and asked me to name a couple Packers players. I looked him right in the eyes and asked if he wanted defense or offense.

Last Christmas when visiting a friend and her family in Wisconsin I had my first experience of watching American football or more importantly the Green Bay Packers. On January 2, 2011 they outfitted me with Packers gear: t-shirt, hat, beads (and lots of warm clothes) and we headed off to Lambeau Field.

Roechelle L, Birmingham, AL

I am a huge Packers fan. So much so that I not only got married in my pink Rodgers jersey, but put off my honeymoon to see the Packers play in this year's Super Bowl. My husband and I got married on Feb. 4, and were offered a cruise (compliments of his Mom). I said, "No way, I will not miss watching my favorite team play (and win) the Super Bowl." I was from Norfolk, Nebraska, but in May we moved to Birmingham, Alabama. I run into Packers fans here all the time. Last year my husband took me to Green Bay for the opening pre-season game. It was a dream come true. GO PACK GO.
